The thirty-fifth round of the English Premier League was closed by Watford and Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp planned to rehabilitate for home defeat from the “Crystal Palace”. “Arsenal” and two Manchester clubs did not earn the points within the game day. In turn, the team of Walter Mazzarri was determined to take revenge for the beating in the first round at Enfield (1:6).

Adam Lallana started his week of training that also pleased Jurgen Klopp and fans of Liverpool. However, the English midfielder started the game on the bench. Apparently, Lallana was not ready for one hundred percent yet. Daniel Sturridge also experienced some health problems. Divock Origi along with Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firminho composed Liverpool’s attacking trio.

The beginning of the match was marred by the injury of Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian received a painful blow to his right thigh. Soon a replacement followed. Therefore, Adam Lallana entered the field earlier than planned. Watford also made forced replacement in the first half. Miguel Britos received an injury and gave way to Christian Kabasele’s game.

After the forced replacements nothing interesting happened on the field of “Vicarage Road” for a long time. Liverpool made a lot of positional attacks with no dividends. Emre Can decided to try his luck blow from outside the penalty area in the middle of the first half. It turned out well, but Eurelio Gomez was able to save his team with the successful jump. At the forty-first minute, the Merseyside players had a real chance for a goal. After corner Adam Lallana struck from twenty-three meters on the rebound ball from the penalty area. The strike went with a beautiful trajectory but the ball hit the crossbar.

In the first-half’s compensated time, “Liverpool” opened the score. Lucas Leiva threw the ball into the penalty area. Then Emre Can hit an incredible overhead scissor-kick almost to the left “nine”. This goal will certainly qualify for the title of the best in the entire championship.

The second half

Liverpool players knew perfectly well that it’s too early to relax. So after the break the guests continued to own the initiative. Nevertheless, Watford played a good organized defense. Eurelio Gomes was not busy enough. Walter Mazzarri’s team rarely went into the attack till middle of the second half. Only then “Hornets” tried to change the picture of the game. Etienne Capoue had the chance to equalize. The ball flew over the crossbar, not without the efforts of Simon Mignolet.

Fifteen minutes before the end of regular time, the Merseyside players could end resistance in a counterattack. Emre Can made the cutting pass to Adam Lallana. The talented English midfielder failed to receive it and the moment was missed. Soon, Watford quite unexpectedly could celebrate a goal. Daryl Janmaat made a cunning strike from outside the penalty area. Simon Mignolet coped with his work, albeit with some problems. At the ninetieth minute, Daniel Sturridge had a chance to score. His forward movement ended with a blow from fourteen meters. Gomez repelled the ball, which then swept alongside the left-hand column. In the very end, Sebastian Prödl could save draw for Watford. But his strong strike from the penalty area fell in the crossbar.

“Liverpool have had problems in those games. But a win tonight and they are in the driving seat,” Jamie Carragher to Monday Night Football about Liverpool victory.

The final score is 0:1. All-in-all it’s a very important victory for Liverpool.
